Matsunaga Teitoku 松永貞徳

(1571-1653)
1571年(元亀2年) - 1654年1月3日(承応2年11月15日)

He was born in Kyoto. His father was the haikai poet Matsunaga Eishu 松永永種.
His other names are
Shooyuu 逍遊(しょうゆう)、Choozumaru 長頭丸(ちょうずまる), Endamaru 延陀丸(えんだまる) and some more.


He was the center of the TEIMON HAIKAI group 貞門俳諧(ていもんはいかい).

The Teimon School was known for its use of colloquialism and puns in haiku. But he insisted on the use of Chinese words too (kango 漢語).
